WE ARE WOODLAND –
THE FAMILY BEACH!
Woodland Beach has a rich and varied history, from the earliest settlement of the Huron-Wendat nation, the fledgling farm community to the growth of recreational activities over the last century. Woodland has been renowned for its beautiful sandy beach and clear, inviting water. It is located on the Georgian Bay shoreline in Tiny Township, Ontario and stretches for roughly 5 kilometres. Woodland has been marked by a large expanse of sand beach, shifting dunes and northern hills. The area changes are shaped by the four seasons, each bringing a new vibrance and character to the community. The ebb and flow of the water and wind flows affect an ever changing landscape.
Now in 2021 in the midst of a pandemic and determining how best to celebrate this milestone centennial year, the History Committee is offering this website for your enjoyment and participation. Not only is it a look at the past but also provides an opportunity for you to contribute to the Woodland Beach community as we move forward. Did you know that at one time Woodland had a dance hall, bowling alley, horse stable, miniature golf course, bingos, talent shows, lodges, restaurants, food markets, sailing regattas and many other beach activities for children and adults? While these are from the past, what is appropriate and desired as we move forward? We look to you for your inspiration and involvement in shaping Woodland Beach successfully in the future.
